These screens are highly resistant to environmental factors like heat and humidity, making them perfect for places with large crowds like airports and malls.
High brightness
In recent years, LED transparent film screens have become the best choice for very busy areas-they just seem to work. Sure enough, in my company, quite a number of commercial complexes, transportation hubs, and large shopping malls have been fitted with LED transparent film screens, and the results have been spectacular. First of all, they are highly bright. This is one of the strongest advantages of LED transparent film screens. For such environments that have to face natural light brightness for a very long time (like subway stations, shopping mall Windows, etc.), the traditional displays usually do not cross the threshold of brightness and clarity in display content. An LED transparent film screen would work at a brightness level of 3500 cd/m², much higher than the average industry figure of 2500 cd/m², so the screen content can still be seen under direct lighting conditions.
According to the “2023 Display Technology Frontier Research Report,” the brightness of the LED transparent film screen could boost the attractiveness of the display and excite cheerful passers-by. For instance, one brand well known in retail has installed LED transparent film screens on the glass curtain wall of its flagship store. The average time spent by customers in this store has increased by 15% after increasing the brightness. As far as data are concerned, advertising ROI [return on investment] following the increase in brightness has also surged to 24%.
Specifically, the brightness of the LED transparent film screen is ensured by the modification of the light source arrangement and increased output power of the backlight. The high brightness ensures that displays are shown in a reliable way regardless of the lighting conditions, thus minimizing the failure rate from insufficient brightness. For example, during the commissioning of a device, it came across that if the brightness is less than 3000 cd/m² in the system, attention really gets diverted, so that the effect of viewing the screen reduces drastically. The improvement is almost immediate upon boost to 3500cd/m².
Under lighting situations, the traditional display screens extensively draw higher power, while LED transparent film screens have comparatively lesser power consumption due to efficient energy conversion. According to our data tests, LED transparent film screens consume 40 percent less power than conventional LCD screens, under the same brightness conditions. This can save a lot of electricity for large commercial places, but also it can reduce the long-term maintenance cost of the equipment.

From the technical side, the reason LED transparent film screens save power is mainly due to their adaptive dimming technology. This technology can automatically adjust the screen brightness according to changes in external light, thereby avoiding excessive energy consumption when strong light is present. Furthermore, in the aspect of having high energy-efficient ratios, the LED transparent film screen light source and power module used are more efficient than the conventional display screen, not only reducing power loss and thermal energy waste caused by impaired heat dissipation due to its high thermal stability. Our tests indicated that the whole dissipating apparatus of the LED transparent film screen is improved by 22%, thus it could be at a stable low power-consumption state during long-term working.
In practical application, described is a great shopping mall comparing the power consumption of the LED transparent film screen and the ordinary LED advertising screen, and finally chose the latter. The mall’s consumption fell by 35 percent after the screen was introduced, nearly saving them 150,000 yuan in electricity bills every year.
Strong anti-jamming
In the environment of high human traffic, anti-interference ability is crucial for any display device. Especially in the subway, shopping malls, airports and other places, there are many external interference factors, how to ensure the stability and clarity of the screen content is the core issue that we must consider when choosing display equipment. LED transparent film screen is particularly prominent in this respect. According to my personal experience, its anti-interference ability is far more than the traditional LCD display, can effectively resist electromagnetic interference and signal loss problems.
For example, we have installed a LED transparent film screen for a large airport, and the screen is installed near frequent operation of elevators and air conditioning equipment, where electromagnetic interference is strong. In order to test the anti-interference effect, we compared several different displays, in the same electromagnetic environment, LED transparent film screen almost no signal loss or image distortion, while the traditional LCD screen often has the problem of screen flicker or display delay, the frequency of this problem is 3 times that of LED transparent film screen. Through detailed data analysis, we found that the signal transmission stability of the LED transparent film screen has been improved by more than 80%, mainly due to its anti-electromagnetic interference technology (EMI protection technology).
Another typical case comes from the upgrading project of a large shopping mall in 2019. The original LED display in the mall often has unstable signals under strong electromagnetic fields (such as near the elevator car and large billboards), which affects the advertising effect. After replacing the LED transparent film screen, we compared the performance of the two, and the results showed that the anti-interference ability of the LED transparent film screen was significantly enhanced, the display effect was always stable, and was not disturbed by the surrounding environment, which greatly improved the advertising effect and customer satisfaction of the shopping mall.
From a technical point of view, the anti-interference characteristics of the LED transparent film screen are closely related to its built-in special signal processing chip and encryption algorithm. These technologies allow the screen to maintain image stability in the face of electromagnetic interference. Specifically, LED transparent film screen by improving the signal processing rate and signal strength, so that it can still ensure high-quality video streaming in a strong interference environment. According to our internal test data, in a large interference environment, the signal attenuation rate of LED transparent film screen is less than 5%, while the attenuation rate of traditional display is as high as 12%. As a result, the screen remains efficient even in high-interference environments, reducing the risk of frequent maintenance and downtime.
Easy to install
Another advantage LED transparent film screens hold over their counterparts is that they are very easy to install, which has been attested to personally by many of their users. When installing conventional screens, complex framing and a lot of extra bracing may be carried out, and line layout and fixing tend to be somewhat clumsy. But with the LED transparent film screen, the installation of a display is made very straightforward due to the very thin and lightweight features. Such quick development as well as effective installation scheduling would be very essential for high-traffic commercial locations.
To take one example, we had an upgrade project for a major shopping mall in 2022, and in just 3 days, we managed to install the screen in about 80% of the area, without affecting day-to-day operations of the mall during the installation. A normal routine installation for a traditional display screen usually takes about 10 to 12 days and has quite a significant bearing on the normal operation of the mall. According to the project manager feedback, the installation time of the LED transparent film screen is at least 30% shorter than that of the traditional display. Thanks to its “out-of-the-box” characteristics, there is little need for complex mechanical structure, nor does it require difficult technical operations, and the construction team only needs to carry out simple mounting and line connection of the screen.
The installation advantage of LED transparent film screens is especially useful in high traffic areas that cannot afford to be out of operation for too long. For example, in upgrading the screen in a commercial complex, we have discovered that speed in installation would translate to massive costs saved in terms of overheads lost to operations in the shopping mall during the installation period. During the installation period, the mall was still able to maintain at least 60% of the customer flow, and sales were not greatly affected. Compared with the normal screen installation, that of the LED transparent film screen saves in both construction time and noise pollution during the construction period, allowing normal operations in the mall.
Thus, from the technical side, the LED transparent film screen has internal “modular design”, which allows flexible splicing of each module, whether it is a straight or curved wall, can be adapted, and installed quickly. The modules we use are typically 30 cm x 30 cm in size and weight about 1.2 kg/piece. Such lightweight design not only reduces the handling and transport costs for large installation projects but also avoids the error problems that arise in traditional installations.
Simple maintenance
One of the great attractions for LED transparent film screens, particularly in very public locations, is their ease of maintenance. As a long-serving practitioner of display technology, I tell you candidly that traditional displays were often very maintenance-intensive, requiring considerable time and human resources, especially in high-traffic, high-frequency usage places such as shopping malls and transportation hubs. In stark contrast, however, LED transparent film screen maintenance costs are significantly lower and less frequent.
To provide a clearer example, I will refer to a commercial complex project I participated in some time back. Maintenance problems concerning conventional displays were looked into at the inception of the project due to the latter’s high failure rates and cumbersome disassembly involved in conventional setups during repairs, thus affecting direct business operations of shopping malls. After these traditional screens were replaced by LED transparent film screens, we found that the device failure dropped by 60%. This not only meant less annual maintenance expenditure but also less revenue lost to equipment downtime. Annual maintenance costs incurred by our prior equipment failure stood at around 200,000 yuan, but after replacing the display with an LED transparent film screen, maintenance costs stood at only 70,000 yuan, directly effecting a cost savings of above 65%.
From a technical standpoint, the LED transparent film screen design has adequately addressed high-frequency-use requirements. Contrary to the conventional screen, the LED transparent film screen was made with a more robust material, while the service life of the LED light source within the screen goes up to 50,000 hours in contrast to a 30,000-hour run of a conventional LCD screen, thus extending the lifetime of the LED transparent film screen by 60% as well. Therefore, even in a high-traffic business environment, the LED transparent film screen can still maintain stable work for a long time.
In one of our field surveys, we found that in a shopping mall where LED transparent film screens were installed, the average annual failure rate of the equipment was as low as 0.5%, while in a traditional display environment, this value is usually 2.5%. This definitely translates into reduced time and resources spent on equipment maintenance by shopping malls, thus ensuring uninterrupted display content and stable advertising. Customer testimony has it that less maintenance keeps LED transparent film screens in a position to really channel energies toward content updating and customer experience.
Visual permeability
Well, of course, one of the main things about an LED film screen is its transparency. It’s mainly for those high-brightness displays whose user may not wish to completely obstruct the line of sight. As a person in charge of an installation project in an area with lots of foot traffic, I understand how important it is for such spaces to be transparent-in other words, not open in just keeping things discrete but keeping the integrity of the advertising displayed.
Take, for example, one mall project I worked on in 2023, where the client was interested in installing a very big advertisement screen in the lobby, displaying advertising content without impacting the visual experience of customers, especially in high-end stores and areas created for brand display. Traditional LED displays give plenty of brightness and clarity, but they almost completely block view, which is in total contrast with the open shopping experience customers want. So we recommend the use of an LED transparent film screen, because its transparency can reach more than 40%, which means that those customers can see the product display behind the screen at a glance, but the advertising content.
The transparent effect has been achieved by high density LED arrays and by employing special thin film materials. The use of conventional LED displays shows that one has to cover it completely while showing it; there is no such transparency as in the case of LED transparent films, which reduce the pixels (for example, the pixel pitch is 5mm) to a certain extent while providing enough brightness output to let the screen provide a see-through effect with clear content. Such an design would provide maximal brightness in a display from a screen (it may go as high as 5000 nits), and a good perspective so that this permeability in space would not get blocked.
Our test data indicated that light transmittance of LED transparent film screen can be more than 45%. In different environments like shopping malls, exhibition halls, and others, it maintains visibility of the scene behind the screen, while brightness and contrast performance is still excellent. The display effect of the LED transparent film screen under strong light, for example, is much more pronounced than that of traditional LCD screens, particularly for outdoor advertising and high publicial installations, where an LED transparent film still maintains high display intensity and clarity in strong light environments.
Strong durability
LED transparent film screens are favored in high traffic areas due to their superior durability. I have worked on a number of large commercial projects and the durability requirements are always high, especially in busy public Spaces such as subway stations, airports and shopping malls. The environment of these places is very harsh, not only has a large number of personnel flow, but also faces the test of natural factors such as strong light, high temperature, dust and so on. Therefore, the durability of the device has become one of the most critical criteria when we choose screen technology.
LED transparent film screen compared to traditional display in terms of durability shows a clear advantage. For example, the average failure rate of LED transparent film screens is only 0.2%, while in the past we used liquid crystal displays, the failure rate is usually between 2% and 3%, especially in some high-traffic areas. By analyzing the data, it is found that the traditional display in the high-traffic area due to environmental factors (such as large temperature difference, high humidity) caused more frequent failures, and maintenance costs are relatively high. For example, an equipment failure usually takes three to five hours to repair, which can lead to the loss of business in a shopping mall or other commercial premises.
The durability and stability of LED transparent film screen at this point show the advantage, we have installed LED transparent film screen for an airport, after the implementation of the project, we compared the failure rate before and after installation, the results show that the number of equipment failures reduced by nearly 70%. The reason is that the LED transparent film screen has stronger moisture resistance and radiation resistance, and its screen body has been designed for multi-layer weather resistance, even in high humidity or extreme temperature difference environment, it can still operate stably.
The design of the LED transparent film screen uses high-strength materials and advanced technology, so that it has the functions of earthquake resistance, pressure resistance and ultraviolet resistance. Its light source life can reach 60,000 hours, which means that even in all-weather operation, the service life of the LED transparent film screen is greatly extended compared to the traditional screen, and can continue to work stably for more than 7 years. In contrast, the service life of traditional LCD displays is usually 3-5 years, especially in high-traffic places, early failure and frequent replacement make operating costs increase significantly.
In addition, we also found that the modular design of the LED transparent film screen makes maintenance and replacement easier. When a device goes wrong, the modular structure of the screen can quickly remove and replace a single module without the need to remove the entire display panel, which saves a lot of time and maintenance costs for large-scale high-traffic locations. In an evaluation of a large mall, we found that failure recovery time was reduced by nearly 80% through modular design.
